Why PTA?
The most valuable advantage of PTA over independent groups is the potential for unified action – a unified effort to solve major problems within a local unit or within a school division. PTA is an opportunity to act as a forum for ideas to assist families, and as a unified organization, it can support legislation that promotes a better quality of education and life for children. Not all problems can be solved in our local communities. As part of a State and National Congress, the local association extends its influence beyond its neighborhood and helps to secure state and national action for the benefit of all children. Policies of the PTA are adopted after considerable study to provide safeguards for local units in their own policy and decision-making. They are the organizing principles that all levels of PTA must follow to insure the continued work for children. * VAPTA website
